I've been into this stuff for a while, on and off. there was a site back on the day where people posted mash-ups of Eminem's 'My Name Is' back when it just came out, there's the proof on the ancient hard-drive, that dusty old P-III.
but about a month ago, Kev came across this really good Mash, 'Boulevard of Broken Songs', and these past couple of days I was actually bored enough to check out the link that was in the comments section of the mp3, leading to the 'Composer of the Work' as one might say in yr12 english. Party Ben evidently has the skills, and is part of the growing Mash Scene in San Francisco, with real night clubs that play Mash. he had some links to a couple of other artists, including McSleazy, who produced a couple of mashes for the recent Banderas movie that bombed (it wasn't the music, i swears), and a bunch of folks out of Perth, Team 9, and on that site I found a link to a mp3 Blog Aggregator, which I'm so using tomorrow to download piles and piles of remixes.
Yes, there are free mp3s available on all the above links. the legality of mashes is in disputation, but seeing as they're not being sold for profit, and there's the possibility that art is taking place, it's a nice fuzzy grey area for the meantime. Oh yeah, before I sign off, a last mention of The Grey Album by Dangermouse, the current hot producer (Gnarls Barkley, anyone? god, listen to triple J for like half an hour, PLEASE).
Anyway, check some of it out, you might like something. If you're reading this, I know you're slacking off.
